Adding Friends and Sending Direct Messages

How the friends system works — sending requests, accepting them, and messaging friends outside of a fast.

Adding a friend

Tap Friends in the bottom navigation bar, then tap Add Friend. Search by username and send a friend request. The other person will receive a notification and can accept or decline. Once accepted, you are friends and can message each other at any time.

Direct messages

You can send a direct message to any friend at any time — not just during a fast. Open the Friends tab, tap a friend's name, and type your message. Direct messages are private between you and that friend. This is a good way to coordinate a fast time, share motivation, or just check in on each other.

Friend notifications

When a friend starts a public fast, you will receive a push notification so you can jump in and join them. This is one of the main reasons to add your fasting partners as friends rather than just finding each other through the public browse page.

Viewing a friend's profile

Tap any friend's name or avatar to visit their profile page. You can see their stats, their earned badges, and their fasting history (if they have made it public in their privacy settings). Profiles are a good way to see how long-term fasting changes someone's numbers over time — streaks, total hours fasted, longest fast.

Blocking users

If you want to stop receiving messages or fast invites from a specific user, you can block them from their profile page. Blocked users cannot see your profile, message you, or invite you to fasts.
